Leading Climate Policy Experts Deliver Media Briefing on Bipartisan Progress on Building & Innovating More on Clean Energy Federally & in Statehouses

For Immediate Release

(Washington, D.C.) – Leading policy experts from Clean Tomorrow hosted a media briefing earlier today to discuss the future of durable clean energy policy and the opportunities for bipartisan support for building and innovating more on clean energy projects federally and in statehouses.

“Regardless of which party is in power, clean energy innovation is a political, economic, and environmental win,” said Lindsey Baxter Griffith, Co-founder and CEO of Clean Tomorrow. “The technologies driving clean energy generation today — solar, wind, batteries, and nuclear — were created in the U.S and the technologies of tomorrow can too. Through Congressional investments since 2019, advanced nuclear, enhanced geothermal, fusion, new grid technologies, and industrial decarbonization technologies are all moving along our innovation pipeline. We can preserve this progress and continue to build the infrastructure for innovation here in the United States.”

“Almost all of the clean industrial innovation happening right now is because of bipartisan investments Congress made – and this is under legislation signed by both Presidents Trump and Biden,” said Evan Chapman, Co-founder and Senior Director of Policy for Clean Tomorrow. “With demonstration projects planned for clean cement, steel, chemicals, paper, and even the food and beverage sector, we have positioned the United States to be the cleanest and most competitive industrial sector on the globe. But if we don’t keep these bipartisan investments going, we risk losing our advantage.”

“There is also going to be a lot of important work happening at the state and local level to keep building new clean energy projects and creating more local jobs,” said Alex Breckel, Co-founder and Senior Director of Programs. “For the first time in decades, power demand is surging with a resurgence of domestic manufacturing, increased electrification, data center growth, and use of AI. But at the same time of this growing need we’re seeing more local bans and restrictions on clean energy development popping up. Fortunately we’re seeing Governors and legislatures in both parties pursuing state legislative reforms to provide pathways to build responsibly designed clean energy projects that deliver for local communities. Clean Tomorrow is providing policy design support to government officials and advocates in those states to help lift the roadblocks that keep the jobs and health benefits of clean energy out of the hands of communities that deserve both.”

Clean Tomorrow focuses on advancing policies that reduce climate emissions by turning policy ambition into action. We work to catalyze rapid change that will accelerate the innovation and growth of clean energy. The group’s policy priorities include:
